(The
Thick Red Line is the old route only applicable from The Orotina turn
off, unless you would like to take the Aquacate Mountain Scenic Route) Take a right out of the airport parking lot towards The City. Go straight parallel towards the end of the Airport Runway. Merge into the crazy traffic on the highway and immediately cross over two lanes into the far right lane (a suicide mission, I know, I know). About 100 meters forward make your first right at the end of the airport runway fence. Circumnavigate the runway (follow the fence) back until you see a two story building overlooking the runway, take your first left (following the pavement). Go down a narrow, curvy road down and pass a Small Airport B&B, cross a bridge, pass by a Water Park "Ojo de Agua" (Belen), pass some bars, keep going on that road, stay right. You'll reach a shopping center (left) you'll see a three way fork, (the sharp right option will come first, do not take it) take the next right (middle option)
most traffic will be going that way (lucky you). The left (straight, wrong)
option takes you past the shopping mall entrance, up a hill. If
your co-pilot is doing a good job, you will exit properly. At the first intersection (like 75 meters) your only options will be right and left. Go right, keep right through another traffic light and follow traffic past a Panasonic factory (get into line, left lane). Take the first left after The Panasonic sign at the stop light (again most traffic will be lined up to go left, lucky you). After you make the left you will pass a Hotel, Restaurant "Rodeo" on the right. Go straight about 4 miles through Lindoras (feels like 30 in traffic) cross over a bridge followed by a Paper Factory (you'll see rolls of brown paper and Trucks if it is daytime) on the left, a Porsche dealership (right), Stop Light (three way intersection), Gas Station (right), Paint ball (left), Strip Mall (left), Mc Donalds (left), Office Park (left) Residential Neighborhood Entrances (right), other fast food (KFC, Taco Bell (right), Wendy's (left). Pass another Gas Station (right), an automotive service center (right), cross over a small bridge until you pass more office towers Forum (right). Pass the first right tat goes up to the buildings, Exit the Second Right across from Pizza Hut (left) before the highway underpass stop light. When you exit right you should pass under a ramp
and go up a slight hill exiting onto another highway. You've made it.
Go straight until you see a toll booth on your right. You should be
driving towards Caldera. Do not go towards Cuidad Colon. Pass throught the toll booth (ask the toll
person if you are going towards "Jaco?" (pronounced, Haco), while pointing straight. When told
"si" or "Yes" stay on that highway all the way passing a few toll booths until you hit the low
land heat. If you end up in "Ciudad Colon"turn back and head for
"Caldera." After "The Orotina" toll booth (Ask again, Jaco?") be
prepared to take your first right off the toll road.

Exit Right to Jaco/ Quepos follow around until you pass under the highway bridge. After the underpass go straight through the circle maintaining your direction. Stay on the same highway until you get to our exit Esterillos Oeste.
Go Past Tarcoles (you'll pass close to the
ocean, tiny waves, whew) A couple seafood restaurants, A gas station on a curve (right), next you'll pass Resort Punta Leona, up a hill at the
top pass the entrance to Villa Calletas (great for sunsets, romantic
dinners) after you make it down the hill you'll see Herradurra marked by lights (at night) strip mall (by day)
preceeded by signs for Los Suenos or Marriott on the right. There is a
supermarket (AutoMercado, AM, surf shop (Arenas), Subway, Pizza
Hut, BAC Bank, ATM, Peruvian Restaurant INKA, etc.) if you need anything. Next on the same
highway is Jaco, be careful of slow, local traffic, bicycles and pedestrians. Pass through Jaco after a Gas Station named Arroyo del Sur you'll go up a hill to
scenic ocean look outs after that you'll enter Playa Hermosa (a short drive through)
keep going straight 10 to 15 minutes and Exit right at the first entrance
of Esterillos "Oeste"(paved)
go towards the beach make your first left before you reach Bar & Restaurant AZUL attached to Super Sol Supermarket,
(if you need directions, hungry, have grocery, beer questions, etc.
talk to Denise or David owners there, they speak english) follow the
gravel road then your second right, you'll see our wooden front gate, sign (above) and
the
ocean
you've made it!
